CENTER FOR CHILDREN IN NEED “OUR KIDS”
The idea to set up the “Our Kids” Center belonged to Mrs. Barbara-Maria Monheim, the founder of the German-Polish-Ukrainian Society in Ukraine, after she first saw the “conditions of life” of homeless children in the capital of a European country. That idea started turning into reality on October 1, 2004 when the first brick was laid in the Center’s building at the official ceremony. And in as little as three years, in 2007, the Center for homeless children was opened. In 2008 the Center welcomed its first foster children.

OUR GOALS
Goal 1
Creating conditions for upbringing children in safe environment, most closely resembling the family environment (the principle of domesticity)
Goal 2
Development and implementation of the program for comprehensive rehabilitation of a child taking into account his/her individual peculiarities
Goal 3
Reintegration of a child in his/her biological family or transfering him/her to the places of permanent stay
Goal 4
Upbringing of children to become self-sufficient and responsible members of society
Goal 5
Development of healthy lifestyle and environmental responsibility skills

PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES
“Inclusion” program is a unique creative project for social and psychological rehabilitation of children who have experienced trauma. Various artistic means are applied in the project (dancing, singing, the art of acting, and others). Participation in the project enables children to have freedom of showing their emotions that reflect their needs and feelings.
Sports initiative. Depending on their wish or need, our children have the opportunity to take exercises in various sports with professional coaches. Besides promoting good physical health and cheerful mood, we have won prize places in sports competitions.
Founded in 2013, the “Our Kids” choir is a prize winner of local and international festivals and competitions.
